We are still in the early stages of the 2016 NHL season and we have a game of two teams that are having different openings to the season. The New York Rangers are set to play the Vancouver Canucks at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at 10:00 pm est. This is the second time that the teams are facing each other this season as they played only a few days ago that saw the Rangers loss by the score of 5-3. However, that only happens to be a small bump on the Rangers season as they are entering this game with a record 12-4-0 and are currently in 1st place in the Metropolitan Division. On the other side, the Canucks are coming into this game with a record of 6-9-1 and are currently in 5th place in the Pacific Division.

Let us first look at the New York Rangers. They are entering this game on a two-game winning streak with wins over the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. It should be noted that the Rangers last loss was at the hands of the Canucks were at MSG last week. What also should be mentioned about the success of the New York Rangers is how they are both dominating and destroying opponents. A lot of this is due to how everyone from Kevin Hayes to Chris Kreider to Rick Nash to Michael Grabner that are scoring at will. I know it is early in the season, but they have scored 65 goals already and the league average is only 42. If you look over the Rangers wins, they have victories when they scored 6 or more goals in a game. What makes it very neat to watch the Rangers so far this season is that it’s not just one person who is scoring and they are getting contributing from everyone. Also, I would like to mention that it is unknown if Chris Kreider, Pavel Buchnevich, and Josh Jooris will play on Tuesday night as they are all suffering from different injuries.
On the other side, you have the Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately, the Canucks are not having quite the same success that the Rangers are having as they are 6-9-1. One reason for this could be due to how not that many people are contributing. Unlike the Rangers who pretty much have goals coming from everyone, that is not the case with the Canucks. While the Rangers have several players with over 5 goals, the Canucks’ leading scorers have five goals and they are the Sedin brothers and Horvat. You won’t do well in the NHL when a majority of your team has two goals this season.
