NFL week 3 is officially underway, with the Patriots defeating the Texans on Thursday night. The action will continue Sunday with a game that sees the Oakland Raiders head to Tennessee to take on Marcus Mariota and the Titans. The Raiders are coming off a home defeat to the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 35-28. Meanwhile, the Titans won last week by taking down the Lions by a score of 16-15. Both clubs enter with a record of 1-1.
The Oakland Raiders shocked the world by going for two to win their game against the Saints in week one. But they could not follow it up with a positive note last week. That leaves many questioning, who are the real Raiders? Well, defense certainly has not been their forte thus far, giving up over 30 points in two weeks to open the season. However, they know how to get the ball in the end-zone, scoring 35 and 28. So will they be able to score enough to overcome the Titans this week, who are favored by 1.5?
The Titans are another team that is still somewhat of a mystery. Week one saw them compete with the Vikings early before the Vikings defense took over. Week two was an ugly game, but the club was able to pull out a victory. Both organizations are lacking a bit on the defensive side, which tells me this one is going to come down to the firepower on the offensive aspect of the ball.
If that is, in fact, the case, then I would have to say the edge is certainly on the side of Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, and the Raiders. Maybe this is just the side of me who was a strong believer in the club entering the season, but I certainly think they are talented enough to go on the road and beat the Titans. I do not have a ton of faith in the Titans offense, but enough to see them score a handful of points. But when all is said and done, I see the underdogs emerging the victors here. And if they disappoint for a second week in a row, I will then begin to lose faith in them this season.
