According to media outlets, House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor (R-VA) lost to Tea Party challenger, David Brat, in the Republican 7th District primary.
Brat, an economics professor at Randolph-Macon College, ran a libertarian-funded program and opposed Cantor for his votes on the debt ceiling and stance on immigration reform, was seen by many in Washington as a long-shot to unseat Cantor.
Cantor’s defeat signals a new power in American politics and further cement’s the Tea Party as a real—and viable force for years to come.
