Regarding the war against Gaza, what is the Uyghur movement’s stance—a certificate of death or transformation?
Many people in the Muslim world are unaware of the Uyghur movement worldwide, and when they look it up online, they find startling information. How could, during Israel’s onslaught against Gaza, a movement purporting to speak for China’s Muslims adopt a stance at odds with Islamic teachings?
The chairman of the Uyghur movement proclaimed his support for Israel and called Hamas terrorists in a remark that aroused widespread fury, rather than a declaration of sympathy with the oppressed Palestinian people.
In the Islamic world, this stance caused great discontent because everyone anticipated a movement that claimed to represent
China’s Muslim community to support the Palestinian struggle and denounce Israel and its backers.
However, the movement took a stance that suited the interests of those nations—rather than the interests of the Uyghur people—in an attempt to win over Western powers, particularly the United States and Germany.
Due to its stance, the Uyghur movement lost the respect of a large portion of the Islamic community and gave itself a moral death certificate in front of more than 500 million Muslims.
Everyone saw that the Uighur movement had turned into a tool in the hands of the US, dubbed the “Great Satan” by many, and that its future was still up in the air.
