LAS VEGAS, NV — Bart Starr was an icon in the game of football from the time he spent on and off the field. Most of us know his on field accolades as the star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers under Head Coach Vince Lombardi.

From NFL Championships, to Super Bowl victories, there’s no doubt that Starr was one of the best in his era. The Super Bowl Breakfast honors the part of Starr that we don’t know. His character and leadership off the field.

Every year, a player in the NFL gets honored with this award as they live the values that Starr inspired.

There are many players across the league that can make a case on why they should be selected. This year the recipient was defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fitzpatrick has always found ways to improve those around him from his work ethic off the field, to being the best teammate he can be to the other 52 guys. Setting the example is the best thing you can do for your team.

Even though he missed a few games this year, his presence was still felt as his teammates saw his example of what it’s like to be a professional He works tirelessly on his foundation unshackled as he helps kids that are abused, neglected, and confused in Allegheny County.

Those children will become young men and young women who will eventually thank him for his efforts during their childhood. Some of these impacts that we see from his continued blessing are generational as we will see the growth for generations to come.

As we continue to recognize athletes for their off the field contributions, all of these recipients go back to the values of Starr, who showed us what it was like to be the best we can be on and off it.
