Tom Brady can’t seem to get out of the media lately and it’s starting to effect his play on the field and his image off the field. It started when he was going to retire, then effectively got Bruce Arians to step down, then unretired. But not before almost costing the Dolphins tampering charges for rumors of them trying to trade the Bucs for him.
Then he skipped training camp in the beginning of the season, then he declared he was going to be taking every Wednesday off during the season including his 45th birthday (which happen to fall on a Wednesday).
Recently, it was revealed that Tom was going to be separating from wife Giselle Bündchen.
I think the problem is that he is a super competitive person and wants to constantly be in the competitive nature of the sport and Giselle wanted him home. I understand where he is coming from in wanting to be around the game because when you love the game and put in as much time and energy as he has to perfect his profession you don’t want to give up until you can no longer maintain. And Tom not only maintained last season but way exceeded expectations.
Today, his comments came out and I am not 1000% sure where he thought when he said this that it was a good comment but he said. “I almost look at like a football season like you’re going away on deployment in the military, and it’s like, man, here I go again!”
No Tom, it is not like going away on deployment, you know why? Because you don’t get to see your family after the game or fly them down to the game and put them in luxury suites. You don’t get to eat at the fanciest restaurants, and make $15,000,000 a year. Not to mention your not being shot at by live bullets that could actually kill you. You also get the entire off-season to spend with your family and can fly home during the season anytime you want.
If a military person gets homesick and wants to see his family and just ups and leaves to fly home that’s called going AWOL they would be dishonorably discharged, court marshaled and possibly sent to jail.
I am not sure what is going on with Brady, but I can tell you that something is not right. This past weekend in the game against the Steelers, he missed his Wednesday practice and then was seen partying in New York on Saturday at previous owner and friend Robert Kraft’s wedding (He skipped team walk-through to attend the wedding). Then on national TV is showing giving his offensive line an earful. As I said I believe he is playing the game because he is an addictive personality and he is addicted to competition but I do not believe his heart is 1000% in the game.
Maybe its time the NFL said goodbye to THE GREATEST QB WE WILL EVER SEE IN OUR LIFETIME. The man has seven Super Bowls and been in ten of them total. I hope he fades off into the sunset before he does any more damage to his image.
