LONDON (UK) – Fresh off a 1-0 win over bitter North London neighbors, Arsenal finally made a splash in the transfer window in landing Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil.

With multiple media reports first reporting the deal, the official signature of the German import would be confirmed on Arsenal.com. Ozil, 24, scored 19 goals and 48 assists for Los Blancos in 105 appearances, tallied nine goals and 13 assists with Real Madrid in 2012-13.

In landing Ozil, Arsenal not only solved a glaring need at midfield, but also bolstered their attack in landing the creative and attacking Ozil, who has a knack of setting up playmakers up front, as he recorded 47 assists in three years, and 71 in 158 caps.

With a much in-form Oliver Giroud, Santi Cazorla, Theo Walcott and fellow countryman Lukas Podolski, Ozil gives Arsenal so much more creative and dynamic options in the midfield. Can you imagine this side with a fully healthy Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain working in concert with Ozil?

Time will tell in how soon Ozil will fit in into Arsene Wenger’s high-octane up-tempo system, but make no mistake, Ozil and Arsenal are made for each other.

Now with their much-coveted target in the transfer window in the fold, the only question that remains to be answered is, can Arsenal challenge the top of the English table?
