In the full slate of games on Monday night, NBA fans are in line for a great Western Conference game. Unfortunately, these two teams are coming out of the gate in different ways, but many NBA pundits are praising both of these teams and expect them both to be on the rise over the next few years. You have the 9-8 Minnesota Timberwolves get set to host the 5-11 Utah Jazz. While on paper, these teams seem to be going in the opposite directions, their play on the court has been better.

First, let’s look at the Utah Jazz. They are entering this game with a record of 9-8 and currently stand in 2nd place in the Northeast. Over the last four games, they have been at .500 with a split of the home and home series against the Nuggets, a loss to the Rockets, and a win over the Hawks.

While 9-8 is nothing to ride home on, they are still thick in the middle of the race. A lot of that can be accredited to Rudy Gobert, George Hill, and Gordan Hayword. There are others who have contributed, but these three have done a lot for the Jazz in the early goings of the season.

However, if the Jazz wants to contend in a tightly contested Western Conference, they are going to need production from other players. If not for nothing, these guys will get burnt out real fast if you continue to rely on them as much as the Jazz happens to.

On the other side, you have the Timberwolves. They are entering this game with a record of 5-11 and currently stand in 5th place in the Northeast. Over the last four games, they have gone with a record of 1-3.

The lonely win they had was over the Suns, while on the other hand, they lost to the Warriors, Pelicans, and Celtics. Unfortunately, a lot of the reason why the Timberwolves are slow coming out of the gate is that they are getting very little production.

They have no players in the top 10 of any category and unfortunately due to how competitive the Western Conference happens to be, you need to have a lot of offense on your team.
