Rob Dubin teaches happiness. Being a specialist in happiness, which we all want more of in our lives has made Rob an in-demand keynote speaker and corporate trainer. Rob shares science-based strategies for happiness, employee engagement and resilient leadership.  And as unique as being a teacher of happiness is, Rob’s personal journey is even more remarkable.

For 20 years Rob was a film director who was able to travel the world with his wife Dee making TV commercials and documentaries for a roster of Fortune 500 clients and TV networks.

In 1993 on a winter backcountry ski trip Rob and Dee became lost in a fierce blizzard and after 5 days, they were given up for dead.  Their unprecedented survival was international news and resulted in calls from the President of the United States, Oprah and the major TV networks.  The interviews that followed made it clear that Rob had a different outlook than most on human capability.

Not long afterwards Rob focused more his life on understanding human happiness and life fulfilment. At the age of 42 he and his wife retired, sold their home, bought a sailboat, and set off to sail around the world.  They went on to spend the next 17 years living on their sailboat and studying happiness in over 100 countries as they circumnavigated the world.

Rob’s film work had often put him side by side with sports stars, billionaires with private jets and corporate CEOs and now he was sharing meals in dirt floor huts with natives of tiny Pacific islands.  He learned about happiness from all his encounters.

The daily challenges of sailing in all weathers, visiting foreign lands and living in awe of nature informed Rob’s ideas on how to live a happy and fulfilled life and for many years he and Dee did just that.

When the pandemic gave so many people a wakeup call about life and Rob saw first-hand how many people were so unhappy with the lives, they were living he realized he had to share what he knew with a wider audience.

Since then he has studied the science of happiness with Yale University and spoken on happiness at Harvard University.  He has appeared on stage with Tony Robbins on The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Fox.   A book Rob co-authored focusing on Employee Happiness is an Amazon No. 1 Best Seller.

Rob’s TEDx talk titled: “Happiness, How to Face Your Fears and Find It,” has been viewed over 250,000 times in its first three months.

What makes Rob’s presentations so captivating is how he interweaves the science of human happiness with lessons learned at sea. When you are tested as Rob and Dee were in their survival experience or as they were nearly every day for 17 years on the ocean, the things that are important in life percolate to the top and become apparent.  Rob’s insights are shared with his audiences in a way that creates maximum impact while still delivering simple strategies people can act on immediately to have more happiness in their lives.
