They say good things come in small packages. In the case of Alice Braga, that couldn’t be more true.
At 5’4, the diminutive and petite 33-year-old Sao Paulo native first appeared on Hollywood’s proverbial radar in the 2002 Brazilian crime drama and Academy Award-nominated City of God as Angelica and the 2005 Cannes-featured drama Lower City as Karina.
Braga would use these films as proverbial springboard to international fame—and eventually Hollywood—in appearing opposite Will Smith as Anna Mortez in the 2007 post-apocalyptic drama, I Am Legend.
From there, Braga would appear in notable films such as Redbelt, Crossing Over, Repo Man, Predators and Elysium alongside Matt Damon and Jodie Foster as Frey Santiago.
Currently set to appear in her first-ever U.S. television role in the USA Network-produced 13-episode drama ‘Queen of the South’, based off of the novel La Reina del Sur written by Arturo Perez-Reverte as Teresa Mendoza, a woman who would go from refugee to Cartel kingpin.
Truly one of the most beautiful and talented actresses today, Braga is one of the true up-and-comers to watch this summer.
