There is no reason to believe the Intercontinental Title match between The Miz, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor won’t steal the show at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. WWE has done a good job of taking three top performers and created a match that should highlight their talents.
The same can be said for the united states title match featuring Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal and Bobby Roode. The triple-threat match for each strap was created out of necessity. There is an over-abundance of star power on both the red and blue rosters. There aren’t enough titles to go around and WWE must find a way to showcase everyone in four hours of entertainment. It’s a tough job, but it looks like the creative team has made it look easy.
Luckily, the mid card has become one of the better parts of Monday and Tuesday night programming.
The Miz is Monday’s best option at stirring the pot. Mahal and his Anti-American character is trending in the same direction. Orton has the ability to give fans a five-star match every time he gets in the ring. The same could be said for Rollins, and Balor is not far behind. Roode may be the weak link in these matches, but he’s not far off the mark.
WrestleMania 34 is top-heavy with solid main event matches. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Heavyweight Title. AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Title. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Title. These title matches should get fans what they want – excitement and a twist or two moving forward.
I have said this before, making my point on other websites, that in event like this isn’t created with the intention of the main event stealing the show. While Rollins cashing in his MITB contract two years ago in winning WWE gold was one of the best moments in the event’s history, it’s the undercard we remember fondly as well.
I’m interested to see what happens after April 8. How will WWE develop Roode’s character? Will The Miz retain his title? And when will Orton revert back to a heel persona that he loves so much? By the same token, can a new champion from either brand have the same impact as the former title holder?
No matter how WWE books WrestleMania 34, these are the two matches fans should watch with great interest as they will set the tone for the next couple months leading up to SummerSlam.
