The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Corpus Christi Hooks Friday night. It was a rally win for the Hooks, as they trailed until the seventh inning. RoughRiders starting pitcher Pedro Payano tossed a quality start, but Corpus Christi got the best of him as his time ended. The Frisco RoughRiders now sit at 46-65 on the season and have lost five-straight games, including a three-game sweep by the Midland RockHounds.
Payano shined in his outing. He tossed 6.1 innings, allowing two hits and two runs (both earned). Along the way, he walked one and punched out a career-high 10 batters. Despite having an outstanding performance, Payano left with a no-decision. Shane McCain took the loss in relief. He threw to just two batters in the seventh inning, giving up two hits and one earned run. Reed Garret walked three and allowed one hit in his one inning of work. Brady Feigl closed out pitching duties for the RoughRiders, striking out three over his 1.2 innings.
Royce Bolinger highlighted the evening for the RoughRiders bats. He went 2-3 with two doubles. Luke Tendler finished the night 1-4 with one RBI, while Andy Ibanez also went 1-4 with one RBI. It was Tendler and Ibanez who produced RBI singles in the first inning, giving the RoughRiders the lead.
