Frisco RoughRiders: RockHounds Sweep Riders In Extras

The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, lost to the Midland RockHounds Wednesday night, 3-1 in extra innings. The series finale loss completes the three-game sweep for Midland, finding the RoughRiders number back-to-back-to-back. Frisco starting pitcher Tyler Davis looked phenomenal, but it wasn’t enough in the long run.

Davis tossed seven innings of fantastic baseball for the Frisco RoughRiders. He allowed just four hits and one run (earned). Davis struck out two along the way. He received a no-decision but did register his sixth quality start in his last seven outings.

The RoughRiders relievers held their own but were just outlasted in extra innings. Reed Garret was first out of the bullpen, throwing one inning of one-hit ball. He would walk one and strike out two in his performance. Ricardo Rodriguez, who has been having a solid time with the RoughRiders, threw for two innings. He allowed one hit and struck out two. Ryne Slack earned the decision, a tough loss. In his one inning of work, he gave up one hit and two runs (both earned). He was having trouble finding the zone, walking four batters in his time on the hill.

Down 1-0 in the fourth inning, All-Star catcher Jose Trevino tied the game with a monster solo home run. He would end his night with just that shot, going 1-5. Scott Heineman remained hot, as he went 3-5 with a double.

News and notes from RidersBaseball.com:

  • Scott Heineman went 6-12 (.500) with two doubles and a walk in the three-game series, coming on the heels of a 0-28 stretch.
