Dahlonega, Georgia

They saw that all things down South are simpler, quieter and move at a much more gentile pace.

If there was ever a small town that best examples this, it is Dahlonega, Georgia. Known as “Gold City” due to it being the site of the second gold rush in the United States.

This tiny town of barely 5,000-plus is also in the middle of what is considered the North Georgia Wine Country, as it and Lumpkin County feature five licensed wineries and multiple vineyards that attract tourists from all over the South and various parts of the United States.

Home to notable athletes and entertainers such as John Bell, the lead singer for Widespread Panic, NASCAR’s first female driver in Sara Christian, Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band and Amy Ray from Indigo Girls, perhaps Austin, Texas-based glamour model Kym Dickens can be the next Gold City native to make it big.

A true Southern belle if there ever was one, the curvy 5’6 blonde bombshell Dickens—who was raised in Texarkana, Texas in her youth, before settling in Austin—is set to burst on the modeling scene thanks to a smoldering combination of shapeliness that evokes memories of Marilyn Monroe.

Versatile, sexy and sweet and just enough rawness and pizazz, Dickens has a sensual cover-worthy look ready to turn heads and stand out above the rest in the world of glamour modeling.

Below is my Q and A with Ms. Dickens as we discuss modeling and her passion for fashion.

Robert D. Cobb: What kind of model do you consider yourself? (Instagram, pin-up/glamour, fashion)

Kym Dickens: “I am a fashion/glamour/fitness/lifestyle/street fashion/swimsuit/lingerie model”

Robert D. Cobb: What brands have you modeled for? Which one do you enjoy modeling for the most?

Kym Dickens: “I am currently working with a number of new companies! I featured on 2 local boutiques websites. I am a brand ambassador of CEJ bags. Also I have just been offered two more ambassadorships with 2 online clothing companies such as Bad Bitch clothing and a swimsuit company.

I also love fashion shows. I have been in a few and have 3 upcoming shows between March-June. I love fashion the most.”

Robert D. Cobb: Where has been your favorite place to shoot?

Kym Dickens: “I like outdoor shooting versus a studio. I will do both but I think having a beautiful background from nature really makes a picture stand out and one of a kind.”

Robert D. Cobb: What is the most exciting aspect of modeling?

Kym Dickens: “I like modeling because I can inspire other’s to follow their dreams such as I am doing.”

Robert D. Cobb: With spring now here and summer right around the corner, what fashion and style tips do you recommend?

Kym Dickens: “Summer is just around the corner which means it’s time to drop those bad eating habits and hit the gym! Me personally, love pizza, but since summer is just around the corner I am eating cleaner and hitting the gym more.”

Robert D. Cobb: Within the industry, who is your inspiration?

Kym Dickens: “I am inspired by those who chase their dreams. I hope to one day make it big to work with big brands. I also like to support local brands. Fashion is a way to express yourself. I enjoy it.”

Robert D. Cobb: What is your secret to staying in shape?

Kym Dickens: “I eat pizza to be honest, but then I feel guilty and work out at least 5 times a week. Yoga is a good way to stay in shape. I do a lot of cardio and weights to stay toned. Eating right is the main key to being in shape.”

Robert D. Cobb: Outside of modeling, what are your hobbies?

Kym Dickens: “I am a college student whose dream is to get into law school. I love to write as well. I paint too. I recently started ice skating as a hobby which I am not the best at it.”

Robert D. Cobb: Since you’re on spring break, any plans to go on vacation? Any future plans or upcoming projects in the pipeline?

Kym Dickens: “I work during spring break! 🙁 I have big upcoming events this summer from fashion shows, to big shoots, to events and a little fun on the side.”

Robert D. Cobb: Since you’re into fashion, what are your thoughts on athleisure, fashion or fitness fad?

Kym Dickens:My new fitness craze is weights and squats! It’s amazing what they have done for my body. Also since summer is approaching I will be doing a lot of local outdoor activities in Austin like paddle boarding or spending time at the Greenbelt in Austin, Texas or floating the San Marcus river with friends.

I am the kinda girl who can go from a formal dress to a pair a boots and rock both. You can take the girl out of a small town and into a big city but you can’t take the small town out of her blood. I will stay true to my roots; even in a big city”

Robert D. Cobb: What advice would you give to women aspiring to get into modeling?

Kym Dickens: “I never in a million years thought I could be a model. I was bullied all my childhood. One day I woke up and realized that despite what others think or make you feel, its up to you to chase your dreams.

I am chasing mine. Anyone can do anything as long as you try and give it your all.”
