With fantasy football in full swing and leagues still—or are already—being formed, one player that owners may target is Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush.

Bush, who signed with the Lions as a free-agent for four years and $16 million, gives the Lions a home-run threat out of the backfield at both running back and as a wide receiver who can split or flex out in certain formations.

For fantasy owners looking for perhaps the top flex option, look no further than the former USC standout.

Last year with the Miami Dolphins, Bush rushed for 986 yards on 227 carries, scored six touchdowns and caught 35 passes for 292 yards, and two touchdowns with a rookie quarterback in Ryan Tannehill.

Bush’s flex value should not be underestimated as he was targeted 52 times in Miami, and in Detroit could see that number increase thanks to the presence of Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson and Brandon Pettigrew in the passing game.

In addition to having a 5,000 yard passer in quarterback Matthew Stafford, Bush gives the Lions a much-needed versatile playmaker on Detroit’s offense that should have been former first-round pick, Jahvid Best.

While Mikel Leshoure could take away some carries in a possible time-share/handcuff dilemma, make no mistake that Bush is the new feature back in Detroit’s high-powered offense in 2013. Projection : 1,084 yard rushing, 10 touchdowns rushing, 64 catches, 684 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns

Honorable mention : RB Darren Sproles (NOLA), RB LaMichael James(SF), RB Shane Vareen(NE), WR Tavon Austin(STL), RB Danny Woodhead(SD), WR Cordarelle Patterson(MIN), RB Montee Ball(DEN), RB Ben Tate(HOU)
