Sheds are among the handiest garden appliances out there. My dad has been using his for years and has never grown tired of everything it has to offer; seemingly endless storage space and great protection for other garden objects whenever weather conditions take a turn for the worse. They also offer a nice visual addition to any garden, filling up space and looking lovely and old-fashioned. However, my dad has always voiced his regret that he built this shed himself, and he’s not the only person I’ve heard about who’s had problems when they’ve tried to build their own sheds. It’s definitely not as easy as you think, and there are actually a lot of difficulties you probably haven’t even considered. Not only are there a lot of downsides to building your own, but there are actually a lot of positives to buying a pre-built shed. But what are these benefits, and why are they important to you? Don’t worry, we’re here to tell you about all the benefits to buying a pre-built shed instead of buying one.

First of all, buying a pre-built shed is a lot less time consuming than building your own. This is a defining factor for a lot of people when they are deciding whether they want to spend a period of time building their own or simply going into a store and picking one. Building a shed takes quite a bit of time, and this can be a pain for a number of reasons. You may have a really busy schedule with work or something of the sorts and simply can’t find the time you need to construct a shed. You could also be going through some very cold winter weather and there might not be enough warm intervals to provide good building weather. Buying a pre built shed takes this out of the occasion, as it will hardly take up any time and it can be quickly installed. You won’t have to worry about eating into the time you spend working and can instead focus on the work itself.
You won’t have to hire builders, either. I know we’re talking throughout this article as though you would be building the shed with your own hands, which could be the case. However, a lot of people hire professional builders to construct their shed for them. Not only will this set them back quite a lot of money as they’ll have to pay the building team, but they’ll also have a house and garden full of builders for however long it takes to build it. This can be a real hassle, but it’s taken out of the equation if you don’t have to have your shed built in the first place. The only crew you may require could be one to carry the shed into your garden, but even if you do it won’t cost nearly as much or take nearly as much time to complete.
Investing in a pre-built shed could also save you quite a lot of money in general. If you’re having it built from scratch, there are a few things you’d have to worry about paying for. If there’s builders, you’d have to pay them and their company. You’d have to buy supplies and materials for the shed itself. You may have to buy tools for you to be able to construct the shed in the first place. The list goes on, but you can see where we’re going with it. All these things might not be terribly expensive on their own, but they will add up to a pretty high price come the end of the whole process. With a pre-built shed, you’re paying for the shed and that’s it. You won’t have to worry about any side-deals or whatever- it’s just the shed you’re paying for. One trip to the store could do it and that’s it sorted, and it’ll probably be cheaper anyway.
A pre-built shed will also be pretty easy to install. If you’re building one yourself, chances are it won’t be. You’ll have to trek through your house again and again with a load of different supplies, materials and tools before you even get started building. It can be a real pain. With a pre-built shed you’ll only require one of these trips which will save you a lot of time and effort. It’ll probably give you a bigger sense of enjoyment as well, as you know that as soon as this one short trip is complete you’ll be finished and have your new shed up and running. The company you purchase it from will probably have a service to have it dropped at your house or even installed in your garden itself, so you might not even have to do this yourself. It’s a better deal all round.
You’ll also have a great opportunity to look at all the different shed designs on offer. This can be one of the biggest issues with designing and building your own shed- you don’t actually know what to make it look like. With pre-built sheds, you can simply stroll into a store or browse online and look at all the designs imaginable. Chances are there will be at least a few you like, so it’s then up to you to make the decision on what one is your favourite and will suit your home best.
If you don’t have to hire builders, then you also don’t have to worry about companies being fully booked. A store can hardly be fully booked, after all- you just have to go in and look. There will always be someone around to help you out and give you any details you want about the sheds you have in mind. You’ll feel really confident and comfortable with the sheds you have, and you’ll rest easy knowing they’ve been built by the best shed designers out there.
