How to do eyelash extensions
We’ve tried to sum up the whole procedure as clearly as possible. If you want to become a professional lash extension specialist this eyelash extension training course for you. And please read the blog thoroughly before starting off.
STEP 1
Start by cleaning your eyelids and lashes with mild makeup remover. It’s important you remove any oil or residual make up before applying extensions. Place the mirror in a proper place where you won’t be interrupted. The dining room table is not ideal if you have family.
STEP 2
Next, take a piece of aluminum foil and pour a drop worth of eyelash extension glue. Using aluminium foil ensures the glue doesn’t dry out during the process. Allotting a fixed amount will prevent wasting your precious eyelash extension glue.
STEP 3
Before using glue, take a few lashes and put them on desired areas of your eyelid using angled tweezers. This way you’ll be able to check whether the eyelashes have the desired look. Remember to vary the spacing and length of your false lashes for a natural look that is customised for you.
STEP 4
Use a precision tweezer to make sure the lashes are in place and you can start gluing them up. Since the eyelash extension glue dries fairly quickly you need to be sure when gluing the fake lashes. Once glued on, the lashes cannot be readjusted unless they are ready to come off on their own.
Understand the Risks
1. Eyelash extension glue can be dangerous
You have to be careful with adhesives especially if you’re using it near your eyes or on your skin. Eyelash extension glues are made of a chemical called Cyanoacrylate. There are 5 variations of this compound that have different functions and are used in eyelash glues with varying purposes. According to Wikipedia fumes from glues based on Cyanoacrylate can irritate eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. Although the United Kingdom’s Health and Safety Executive have declared cyanoacrylate based glues as safe, the toxic effects of the compound can still be harmful.
2. You don’t know which product is right for you.
Makeup related products come in a variety of qualities and purposes. However not everything is for everyone. If you are not sure whether a product suits you, avoid using it no matter what. Especially when working around the eyes you need to make sure each and every item that comes into contact with you doesn’t cause you harm.
3. Sharp tweezers
Tweezers and other sharp makeup instruments need to be used with extra care. Before using any of them you should disinfect them just in case. It is not recommended you use sharp tools near your eyes without being able to see what you are doing.
4. Gluing Eyelids
The most common accident in the eyelash planting business is accidentally closing the eyelids shut with glue. Not only is it a horrible experience, it can even cause excruciating pain and vision loss.
5. A doubtful result
Without proper experience it is quite normal for the whole process to go sideways. Doing your own eyelash extensions can be very difficult even if you are a professional and have done it on others. If you’re preparing for a big day, a good idea would be to do your extensions beforehand. This will give you some recovery time if the results are not optimum.
