The Lone Star State will play host to an NFL showdown this week. The Detroit Lions will leave the Motor City to head down to Houston, where they will take on the JJ-Watt-less Texans. The Lions are coming off a victory at home, as they took down the Washington Redskins 20-17. The Texans suffered a loss however, when they went into Denver and only scored nine points to the Broncos 27.
The Lions are on a bit of a roll. They have won three straight games, but they have all come at home. Four weeks ago when the team was on the road, they lost to the Chicago Bears. The week before, in Green Bay, they lost to the Packers. Their only home win came in week one, when they won a shootout with the Indianapolis Colts. The team is very capable of scoring points, as Matthew Stafford and Marvin Jones, Golden Tate and the crew. The defense shows flashes, and they will be going against one of the worst quarterbacks in the league, but they are nothing special. So will going on the road kill their mojo?
As for the Texans, they somehow hold first place in the AFC South. Brock Osweiler has been brutally awful this season, and his star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been severely underutilized. They are a team that plays much better at home however, as that is what has gotten them to a 4-3 record. All of their wins have come in Houston, while all of their losses were on the road. So following that pattern for both clubs, this game appears to set up for a Houston win.
I have a real hard time putting faith in Osweiler. But I am afraid I have to go with the facts that I have presented here. While I really hate to do it, I am going with Houston and the over.
