As the WWE heads toward it most exciting time of the year. The main event of it’s biggest card, “Wrestlemania 31” remains in serious doubt.
The early plan was to forward with the building of Roman Reigns and put him over against Brock Lesnar for the WWE title. Those plans were set in motion at this years WWE Royal Rumble last month with Roman Reigns winning the event and earning the title shot.
The problem being that the fan backlash of the result was much stronger than anyone could have expected. The strong majority of the wrestling fans worldwide strongly prefer the returning Daniel Bryan as their main choice to challenge Lesnar for the tile at Wrestlemania.
It is clear to even the most casual fan that Bryan is the most popular wrestler WWE has seen since the initial emergence of John Cena. The fans rally around the hardworking undersized Daniel Bryan every time he performs in the ring.
He truly is a peoples champion as he does not fit the stereotypical image WWE likes to have as their champions. Daniel Bryan was actually champion last April though July as he won belt at “Wrestlemania 30” and held it until a career threatening neck injury forced him to forfeit the belt.
The WWE hoped that with Bryan out of the picture they could build towards an epic showdown with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. The problem became clear once Bryan returned in January that the fans had not forgotten about him and their passion to see him win was stronger then ever.
For now, it appears as though the WWE has called an audible by adding a Bryan vs Reigns match at their next pay per view Fastlane, the winner receiving the shot at the title. However rumors are already abound that Roman Reigns will still win that match as they are using Bryan to help get the big man over.
One cannot even begin to imagine the backlash from that decision if it truly does occur. WWE prides itself on giving the fans what they want, if that is the case then they need to do the right thing and put Bryan in the main event of Wrestlemania 31, even if he doesn’t walk out with the strap.
With the WWE network struggling and stock holders dropping, now is the time for the “Peoples Champion” Daniel Bryan to put the company on his back and carry them into the next generation of stars!
Until next time fight fans, No Blood : No Foul!
