Television’s current #1 comedy, The Big Bang Theory, is making its much-anticipated return to the airwaves tonight. The show, which is on its eighth season, was moved from Thursday nights to Monday nights because of CBS’ presentation of Thursday Night Football.

The show stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting. The season premiere airs tonight at 8:00pm on CBS.

During the season 7 finale, Leonard (Galecki) and Penny (Cuoco-Sweeting) were adjusting to life as an engaged couple. Sheldon (Parsons) had been struggling with his future plans in terms of his career and eventually left Pasadena.

His girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), was visibly distraught about the move and how Leonard let Sheldon leave like that. Raj (Kunal Nayaar) has started seeing a woman named Emily (Laura Spencer), and Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) continue to work out the kinks in their marriage.

The show is expected to see a few changes from seasons’ past. Due to Cuoco-Sweeting’s new hairstyle, Penny will be sporting the pixie-like haircut that has become so popular.

What is the future of Penny’s dream of becoming an actress after being fired from her latest gig and will she ever leave The Cheesecake Factory for good? The guys will have to cope with the comic book store, a place that they commonly visited, burning down.

Will Raj finally have a successful relationship and where will Sheldon wind up?

Debuting in the fall of 2007, the show is based around two physicists who share an apartment and work at CalTech. The show is set in Pasadena, California and the episodes are based around their lives , whether it’s a conflict at work or a troubling relationship.

The first season was shortened due to the writer’s strike, but has seen a steady increase in viewership thanks to re-runs on various networks like TBS and FOX.
