It’s never easy finding the next Hollywood superstar. It can sometimes take actors and actresses years to breakthrough. However, Alexander Ludwig has been able to do just that, and has done so in a relatively short amount of time.
Ludwig has been featured in numerous Hollywood projects. So, it comes as a slight surprise that he isn’t talked about as one of the up-and-coming actors in the business. At the young age of 22, Ludwig has paved quite the path for himself. He is best known for his role on the History Channel’s vastly-underrated show, Vikings, where he plays Bjorn Lothbrok. But that’s just a small part of his work.
The young actor has an extensive film catalog beyond the television realm, starring in films such as The Hunger Games, Grown Ups 2, Lone Survivor and When the Game Stands Tall, the latter of which was his breakout role.
Ludwig has the acting profession in his blood, as his mother Sharlene, whom serves as his manger, is a former actress. His father Harald, is co-chairman of the board for Lions Gate Entertainment, which is one of the biggest film enterprises in the country.
Currently, Ludwig is attending the University of Southern California where he studies film, theater, and entrepreneurship. He is also an avid musician, and plans to release his own original material in the near future. Despite Ludwig’s versatile skill set, the actor knows every role he obtains is gained not earned, similar to his character in When the Game Stand Tall. Ludwig stated the similarities during a recent interview.
“I think is really goes two and two with the movie itself, that your always striving for that next win, to get that next role. But you have to remember that life is that journey and the people your making it with live in the now and (don’t get) caught up with the hype.”
It’s hard to earn a reputation in Hollywood, but Ludwig has a pretty firm grasp on the business. He has grown exponentially from his first major role, Race To Witch Mountain, and as a result, earned himself a solid fan base.
It’s not an easy feat to breakout as an actor, but when your as talented as Alexander Ludwig it’s just inevitable.
