With Christmas less than two weeks away, there is still plenty of time for everyone to get all of their last-minute gift shopping out of the way. Perhaps a great stocking-stuffer for men, would be a new fragrance from his significant other.

I will confess something to all those who read this blog. I am a cologne collector.

I have been a fragrance connoisseur for over 20 years, and have the uncanny ability to identify a scent from a mile away.

In the retail business, I would be best described as a “nose”–basically an expert–on fragrance. When I lived in Pittsburgh, I worked for Saks Fifth Avenue.

In perhaps, the biggest display of confidence, one can ever display, I stood up in front of the entire store in the middle of a morning meeting and declared that I can sell our newly-arrived Vera Wang.

Which I did, and brings us to the present.

There are many unique and diverse fragrances out there for everyone. While my list is subjective and based solely on my opinion, there is something for everyone.

Thanks to our unique set of pheromones, not all noses are created equal. While this writer’s first cologne was Chanel’s Allure at 16, some of my all-time favorites also include CK Contradiction, the fore-mentioned Vera Wang, Bond No.9 Chinatown, Hanae Mori, Issey Miyake, Kenneth Cole Black and Burberry Touch, newer fragrances such as Victor and Rolf’s Spicebomb, Bleu de Chanel, Black Orchid by Tom Ford, Gucci: Guilty and Mont Blanc’s LEGEND are also very good.

Whatever cologne one chooses is up to you, but remember to always smell the coffee beans at your neighborhood Sephora, so that you can accurately make the right choice.
