With the success of the first two G.I. Joe films, a sequel in the franchise is inevitable. Reports are now indicating that Paramount has found a new director for the third incarnation in D.J. Caruso.

Caruso is no stranger to the action film genre. He is best known for his work on the films, Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four. Caruso takes over for the departed John M. Chu, who directed the series second installment, Retaliation.–Stephen Sommers directed the first film in the series, Rise Of Cobra.

The newest G.I. Joe film will supposedly center around Roadblock(Dwayne Johnson), who took on a starting role in Retaliation. However, not much is known about the return of Duke (Channing Tatum) Many fans were disappointed that Duke was killed off during the sequel’s opening act, and as of right now there are no plans to bring that character back to the film.

The film is still in its early stages, but release is expected sometime in 2016.
