Thanks to catchy pop singles such as “Sucker” “London Queen” and “Break The Rules” British pop star Charli XCX broke all the rules in music in 2014.
Born Charlotte Emma Aitchison to a Scottish father and Indian mother, the 22-year-old Charli XCX burst onto the international pop scene after being featured in Iggy Azalea’s single, “Fancy”, for which she would be nominated for a 2015 Grammy in the category Record Of The Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Her collaboration with Azelea would also net accolades would garner awards such as ARIA’s Song of the Year, Billboard’s Mid-Year Music Award for Best Music Video, Best Summer Anthem, Favorite No.1 Hot 100 Song and World Music Awards for Best Song and Best Video, have shot XCX into the top echelon joining the likes of Lorde, Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande and Jessie J as pop’s next generation of superstars.
In her new album, Sucker, standout singles such as “Boom Clap” have already netted nominations from the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Music: Love Song, MTV Video Music Awards for Artist to Watch and Billboard’s Women in Music as Hitmaker of the Year (which she won) stand to launch her into the top of pop.
Thanks to these hits along with other her sultry and Debbie Gibson-like sound in hits such as “Doing It” and “Body of My Own”, XCX will be a force to be reckoned in 2015 and beyond.
