As the pandemic hit emergency levels, we heard different stories about the toll it took emotional and physically on our fellow humans. We want to share the latest interview of actress and humanitarian, Keturah Hamilton

When did you know about the pandemic?

I was visiting my home country Jamaica for a little pleasure, but mainly business. The second to third day I think, I woke up and heard it on the news that people were dying, flights and games were being cancelled, and the financial markets were crashing. At first I thought it was a bad dream. I kept watching and realized it was a reality and then fear of the unknown kicked in. I hopped on the next flight back to Los Angeles, where I reside.

How did you spend your time under quarantine?

At first it was challenging, because you couldn’t be with your love ones. Kissing and hugging became scarce, and social gathering was obsolete. I had to look deep inside myself and adjust to the new normal. One morning I woke up and realized that all my life I have been moving. I never take a moment to be still, so this is the time to find out who I really am and what I really want. My creative juices started flowing!  My good friend, Shay Domingo, and I decided to create our baby, Vibeszz, in my living room!  It’s a weekly talk show series on YouTube, it’s unedited, raw and real.

Your view about COVID-19:

My view on the COVID-19 pandemic is a bit more religious, however, I won’t get into that. We just need to come together as people and spread more love. We are all one, no matter what.

What is your opinion on the misuse of the power by the police in killing innocent people?

SMH. My spirit is so sad.  There are no adjectives to describe how I am feeling. One thing for sure is that I will not stand by and not be a part of the change!  You need to stand for something or you will fall for anything.  My ancestors didn’t come this far for me to not make a difference. I marched, I shouted, I cried, I donated and I vowed to be part of this movement.

I will continue to fight for the George Floyd’s, the Breonna Taylor’s, and the countless voiceless human beings who can’t stand up for themselves. I can see and feel the shift in the world and its an honor and a privilege to be alive and to be a witness to this revolution.

The Keturah Hamilton Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to make a difference in people’s lives through education. I never went to college. I was self taught and learned from great people, who have crossed my path.  I know that knowledge is power and that the best way to give back to the world is through education.

With the hard work of everyone who believes in my mission, such as David Parker, and my dear friend Shayla Michelle, and my consistent donors, the KHF awards annual scholarships. We also donate school supplies and perform annual feedings of the less fortunate. I believe we can all make a difference and community service is the rent we pay to live on this earth.
