The 2016 election is probably going to go down in history as the most controversial, polarized, and bitter election that has happened in our country’s near 250 year history.
Donald Trump, a man who said on tape, “Grab ’em by the *****.” won over the first major female candidate Hillary Clinton (arguably the most corrupt too) despite earning fewer popular votes. He also won despite many bigoted statements (twisted or not twisted) against women, Muslims, blacks, illegal immigrants, and a few more groups that I’ve neglected to mention. But he is now our president-elect and I’ve never seen such a vocal and physical reaction from American citizens.
Riots and protests typically happen when something “illegal” or something seemingly unconstitutional happens to the American people such as violation of civil rights, an unwanted war, crimes against humanity etc. I didn’t foresee the American people viewing a legal election as a crime against the American people.
But they have and the reaction is so volatile that there’s been a petition created on Change.org that’s advocating exploiting a loophole in the voting process. I will not post a link to the petition, but I will print its contents below.
“On December 19, the Electors of the Electoral College will cast their ballots. If they all vote the way their states voted, Donald Trump will win. However, they can vote for Hillary Clinton if they choose. Even in states where that is not allowed, their vote would still be counted, they would simply pay a small fine – which we can be sure Clinton supporters will be glad to pay! We are calling on the Electors to ignore their states’ votes and cast their ballots for Secretary Clinton.
Why? Mr. Trump is unfit to serve. His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted history of sexual assault, and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the Republic. Secretary Clinton WON THE POPULAR VOTE and should be President. Hillary won the popular vote. The only reason Trump “won” is because of the Electoral College. But the Electoral College can actually give the White House to either candidate. So why not use this most undemocratic of our institutions to ensure a democratic result? SHE WON THE POPULAR VOTE.
There is no reason Trump should be President. “It’s the ‘People’s Will'” No. She won the popular vote. “Our system of government under our Constitution says he wins” No. Our Constitution says the Electors choose. “Too many states prohibit ‘Faithless Electors'” 24 states bind electors. If electors vote against their party, they usually pay a fine. And people get mad. But they can vote however they want and there is no legal means to stop them in most states. PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE!”
Desperate times call for desperate measures and desperate logic I guess.
Democrats are so outraged at this upset victory by Donald Trump that they’re forgetting what this country is: a democratic republic under the system that our founding father James Madison set up. The United States is not and has never been a pure democracy. Donald Trump is this country’s rightful president because he won more states and electoral votes than Hillary Clinton because that’s how a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC WORKS! It is designed to prevent a majority rule from having all the power.
The fact that the former Secretary of State may have a million more popular votes than Donald Trump is salt in the open wound, but irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Donald Trump is still the lawful president-elect at this moment. Also, if they want to get ticky tacky on the Constitution, then let’s remind the world that there is no qualifications of being “fit to serve” beyond age limit and born an American citizen. The rest is up to the people. A candidate can be the most racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-puppy, anti-kitten, pro-leashing children, pro-abolishment of Christmas, anti-football, anti-baseball and anti-apple pie if they want. If they get enough support, they’ll become president; the founding fathers just trusted the country to have enough brains to choose ideal ethical and moral candidates for the job.

The Democrats trusted Hillary Clinton, who has more scandals than a redheaded 7-year-old has freckles, and that swung a lot of people towards the “bigoted” real estate mogul. If a moderate scandal-free Democrat runs, then this isn’t an issue. But the Democratic Party didn’t put up that type of candidate, instead played a “lesser of two evils” lottery and lost. Now, four and a half million liberal citizens are endorsing electors to break the law and become “faithless” in order to “correct” Trump’s election.
That’s a good idea, a novel idea, a brilliant idea even. That is if you want to start a war.
No, this is not hyperbole, this is the truth. If the Electoral College turns their heel on the American people and votes Hillary Clinton into the White House over Donald Trump, then the people will bite that heel like a venomous snake. This is not an overly dramatic reaction either, but a valid response to a betrayal of the foundation of the United States.
This cannot be understated. If Hillary Clinton is “chosen” over Donald Trump, it’s basically a metaphorical middle finger to the 61 million American people who voted Donald Trump and to every American citizen by saying it doesn’t respect the integrity of the American voter.

I’m not talking just ordinary average American voters either. I guarantee you that plenty of state officials will be angered by such an act. This coupled
This coupled by the outrage and heat from their constituents will create a unified effort by officials and citizens that will lead to a formal declaration of independence and secession from the United States of America. Former President Obama and new President-“chosen” Clinton will have to respond via military efforts the way Abraham Lincoln did and we will have a second Civil War.
Again, this not hyperbole in the slightest.
Remember, Trump won eight of the 14 battleground states and 30 states overall assuming he gets Michigan, the last state to still be officially called. That’s 60% of America that can potentially secede and outside of Virginia; every single state in the former Confederacy voted Trump and will be potentially looking for a second attempt to escape what they view as liberal dictatorship. I can officially vouch for Texas as there are enough Texans who joke about wanting our state to secede because Texas was once
I can officially vouch for Texas as there are enough Texans who joke about wanting our state to secede because Texas was once it’s own country at one point and there’s a belief that Texas could run itself. A betrayal of America’s foundation will push those Texans to more than just wanting to leave the “country club.”
Speaking for myself, I love my country. I love being a Texan in America and I will fight for the United States if called upon. I didn’t vote for Trump, but I know if the Electoral College betrays America then it’s no longer the country I stand for and that’s when it’s time to go. I’d move to Europe if secession failed because this is crossing the line. This is subjugation and oppression by the Electoral College and if they’re willing to do that, then they do not stand for the basis of the United States. This is not something that can be split like a lock of hair. If they do not stand for all of America, they do not stand for any of it. Not for any of the freedoms that

Not for any of the freedoms that makes America, America. Once this country ceases being this country, then the people cease being obligated to be loyal citizens. The states that comprise the United States were annexed under the agreement that the Constitution would be the defining document that makes this country a republic versus a straight forward democracy. Violating the Constitution means breaking that agreement and that’s justification alone for secession.

For any liberal sneering at these points and calling me a traitor (out loud or silently), let me ask you something. Would you feel the same way if the situation was reversed? Like say Donald Trump was “chosen” as president over an elected Hillary Clinton. No, it’d be the same travesty, a miscarriage of justice etc. that led to this unlawful petition.
Only a petition for Trump to be chosen over Clinton would never happen because conservatives wouldn’t betray the Constitution just because they didn’t like who was legally elected as president. Conservatives would rather petition to indict Clinton for her recklessness regarding national security and thus forcing her to resign or be thrown out of office via imprisonment. That’s legal under the Constitution unlike promoting “Faithless Electors.”

That’s the problem with a lot of liberals. They are like tiny infants crying for their milk bottles. They want what they want when they want it and don’t care that James Madison set up this government to where major change takes a long time because Madison’s system insured that a majority of the country, not just the metropolitan areas, but in all areas of population, would have to want to see that change occur.
That halts their idea of progress and they would rather have government control over any and all things as long as they get their way. Liberals fail to see that if you give all the power to the government and take it away from the people, then the most important check and balance that our Constitution has is nullified. Because it is the people themselves that are the final check and balance.
What conservatives realize is that if the government is allowed to do anything, then the basis of George Orwell’s 1984 becomes possible and they (myself included) cannot and will not live with the possibility of having a Big Brother controlling everything that we do including how we’re allowed to think. Liberals think of the government as their weapon chanting, “Oh, it’s on our side, it’s on our side, it’s on our side,” while conservatives imagine a scenario in which that weapon turns on us because weapons can do that in the wrong hands.
If the Electoral College “chooses” Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, then it’s a smoking gun pointed at the people.
Once that happens, the entire Constitution becomes meaningless and the groundwork for a 1984 begins. Now, of course this will not happen because both Obama and Clinton understand that and they are not that reckless or stupid to promote an action that would lead to war. Clinton has accepted her defeat with amazing grace and class worthy of the feminist’s main lady. Even her most malicious opponent has to objectively admit that. Without their support, no way the electors budge from their duties.
However, the very fact that 4.5 million people want this to happen is enough proof that this is the most controversial election we’ve ever had. The very fact that a population sample larger than the Detroit metropolitan area is willing to bypass the Constitution is enough proof that America is more polarized now than it has been since the actual Civil War.
Trump supporter or not, that should terrify any rational American citizen of a second one possibly coming.
