The St. Louis Cardinals have added strength to their bullpen. It was reported earlier this morning that the Cardinals had acquired Left-handed pitcher Zach Duke from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for OF Charlie Tilson.
This trade helps the Cardinals a lot because they have had bullpen problems as of late and are currently tied with the Miami Marlins for the 2nd Wild Card spot. Zach Duke has had a relevantly decent 2016 season as he is 2-0 and has a 2.63 ERA. On the White Sox side who are currently trying to rebuild their team are building towards the future and being that Tilson is 23 years old, he is someone who fits to help the White Sox in the future.
If you look at this trade right now, the Cardinals won as of now because Zach Duke is someone who can be an impact player now as the Cardinals are in a major playoff chase. It will be a long time until we see who wins from this trade. It will be interesting to see if the White Sox can unload many of their other players who are being rumored to be on the move before the deadline at 4 pm tomorrow.
If you look at the Cardinals, it will be interesting to see if they continue to make trades before the trade deadline tomorrow at 4 pm. I see the Cardinals possible making more deals before tomorrow’s deadline because they are in the middle of a playoff race as they are tied with Miami and have a two and a half game lead over the New York Mets. It should be noted that the Cardinals are going to be getting players who can help them now.
