The Houston Texans will surely be happy to be back home once again this week. NFL week 4 will see the Tennessee Titans down in Texas taking on the Texans, who are coming off a 27-0 loss last Thursday at the hands of New England on the road. The Titans are also coming off a loss of their own, losing 17-10 at home against the Oakland Raiders.
The Houston Texans opened the season 2-0, as they were victorious in their first two games, which happened at home. Then last week they took to the road and looked downright awful. The Patriots made them look like a team that should be win-less on the season, embarrassing the club by shutting them out. So the question is, are the Texans a different team at home compared to on the road? Or did the Texans simply benefit from facing two teams that are not the best in the opening two weeks, in the Bears and Chiefs (who are not the same on the road)?
That will be a key question entering this week’s game. On the flip side, we have the 1-2 Titans. The Titans, despite having several decent offensive weapons, have not scored more than 16 points in any of their first three games this season. Their defense, which was not expected to be that great, has not been torn apart like many have expected. When all is put together, the Titans have been one of the most puzzling teams in the NFL so far this season. The one thing I feel we can expect from them is a low scoring game.
Given the question marks on both clubs, I have to bank on the home field factor in this one. The Texans thus far have shown home field advantage has been a major factor for them. So even with them laying 5.5, I think they are the pick in this low scoring game.
