CORAL GABLES, FL — Thanks to helping lead the Miami Hurricanes to upset wins over Texas A&M and defending national champion Ohio State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, is QB Carson Beck ready to seize the moment?
Beck, a two-time national champion at Georgia, who sat behind Stetson Bennett, is quickly turning heads—and NFL scouts—thanks to a brilliant season down in Coral Gables under head coach Mario Cristobal.
The 6’4, 225-pound senior out of Jacksonville, Florida completed 277-372 passes for 3,175 yards and 26 touchdowns in helping guide Miami to a 10-2 record and a CFP Semifinal spot in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Ole Miss.
For all of his physical attributes and raw NFL-level talent, such as his accuracy and poise, Beck’s ability to play from under center, a solid understanding of schemes, and athleticism, as demonstrated in his seven rushes for 28 yards, including a 11-yard scramble to help Miami seal their 24-14 upset win over No.2 Ohio State.
For all of his positive attributes, Beck has been dogged by inconsistency and decision-making, which has caused his potential NFL stock to fluctuate between being a late first round selection, early Day 2 or 3, when many scouts had him as high as a top-ten pick.
His decision to transfer from Georgia to Miami after suffering a knee injury in Athens, as well as decommiting from the 2025 NFL Draft also raising some eyebrows amongst talent evaluators.
With arguably the biggest game of his career to date coming up soon, Beck has a chance to not only seize the moment and play for his first CFP title as a starter, but a chance to rewrite the narrative of him at Georgia and punch his own ticket to the first round of the NFL Draft and beyond.
