It seems that we may still see Carmelo Anthony leave New York. It was reported by Al Iannazzone of Newsday that Carmelo Anthony will think about leaving the Knicks if they decide to go in another direction. It’s very disappointing that the Knicks have been horrible, it seems that Carmelo Anthony is holding them back and is thus becoming a distraction.

Carmelo Anthony has a no-trade clause in his contract, however, if management came to him and told him that they were going in a new direction, then he would consider waiving it. It was recently reported that Anthony would waive it if it meant he was going to either the Clippers or the Cavaliers. Anthony told Newsday’s Al Iannazzone in an exclusive interview, “I think it will be more on the front office.” He would go on to say, “I have the power, but I would still like to talk to the. We would be in communication if they feel like they want to go in a different direction, they want to start rebuilding for the future.”

However, where this gets interesting is that Anthony, 32, made it clear that he has no intentions on going anywhere. He also said that he and his family are loving New York. As of this writing, the Knicks are 19-25 and are losers of 12 of their last 15 games. It should also be noted that they are in danger of missing the playoffs for the fourth straight year. However, Anthony doesn’t want to abandon his team as he could easily go to a team that has a shot at winning a championship. He also indicated that if nothing happens prior to the NBA trade deadline, then he will discuss the matter with his family as they will have a say in his decision.

As a fan of the New York Knicks, I truly hope they decide to go another direction and not have Anthony be part of those future plans. Since he signed his five-year deal back in July of 2014, he has been more bad than good for the Knicks. As much as Carmelo Anthony is trying to be a team player and not have emotions play a role, I think it would be great for business if he were to be dealt. I have learned that in order to do well in any business, you should not mix emotions and business.
