It seems that we now may know why Goldberg has gone over on Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. As the Wrestling Observer is now reporting, WWE is now having plans to have Goldberg and Brock Lesnar have their match close out Wrestlemania. As of Fastlane, this was now made for the WWE Universal Title.

Unless a new deal is struck, Goldberg’s contract with the WWE is coming to an end and this could be his last match. This could also explain why WWE has been booking him in such a dominating factor over the last few months. If the WWE wants Goldberg to have another match in the WWE, they would need to pay him what they are paying him now. Goldberg was in WWE right after WCW went under and by 2004, he ended up leaving WWE. Throughout the years, he would vow that he would not be returning to the WWE.
Then it was announced that he would be the featured superstar in WWE 2k17 and this lead to people thinking that Goldberg would end up returning. He would end up making his return towards the end of 2016 and would end up feuding with Brock Lesnar. There first match would be at Survivor Series, where Goldberg would end up defeating Lesnar in fast fashion. Then there next bout would be in the Royal Rumble when Goldberg would end up eliminating Lesnar quickly.
This would be the fifth straight year where WWE turns to a part-timer to main event Wrestlemania. Since Wrestlemania 28, the WWE has had a part-timer be involved in the main event match as it was the Rock for Wrestlemania 28 and 29, Batista in Wrestlemania 30, Brock Lesnar in Wrestlemania 31, Triple H at Wrestlemania 32, and now Goldberg and Lesnar being the main event of Wrestlemania 33. I don’t understand why WWE needs to rely on their past at the companies biggest show to help them. There are a ton of talented wrestlers on both Smackdown and Raw that deserve that spot.
Wrestlemania 33 is on April 2nd and can be seen on the WWE Network. It will be interesting to see how many people end up saying that this event is not good at all. Since WWE is giving these two part-timers the main event spot, how long will they get: 45 seconds?
