The Miami Dolphins have announced the signing of free agent tight end Jordan Cameron.

The news came as a surprise as it was reported only hours earlier by several outlets that Cameron agreed to re-sign with his now former team, the Cleveland Browns. The deal with the Browns as it turned out was not finalized, giving the Dolphins time to swoop in.

Miami gains in Cameron one of the more reliable tight ends in the NFL so long as he’s healthy. Cameron has had a history of concussions that might have put other teams off on going after him.

Even with signing Cameron the Dolphins are still intent on retaining their own free agent tight end Charles Clay. Miami has not lifted the transition tag on Clay even as the Buffalo Bills are making a strong push to sign him.
