The Denver Broncos are in trouble. Their week 15 loss at home against the New England Patriots was a costly one. It has knocked them out the playoff picture and with remaining games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders, it looks like the Broncos are looking for a bounce back in 2017. Here are my observations from Sunday’s loss to the Patriots.

No run game = no offense

Since starting RB CJ Anderson went down with a knee injury earlier this season, the Denver Broncos run game has been nonexistent. Devontae Booker was drafted in hopes that he could be the man in these cases. He has been less than stellar since. On Sunday, Head Coach Gary Kubiak even pulled Booker from the starting lineup and started Justin Forsett. This did not help either. The lack of run game is killing or has derailed the Denver Broncos season. Teams are able to key in on the pass because even on play action teams are disrespecting the run. This has been a strong reason for the downfall n 2016.

Missed Opportunities

The Denver Broncos missed out on several opportunities on Sunday. The defense played well enough to get the win. The offense did not take advantage of this. There were dropped passes and missed passes that Trevor Siemian could have completed. The Broncos offense is not there in terms of being able to recover from missed opportunities. If the Broncos want to win going forward they need to not waste the opportunity when it presents itself.

Do not cash it in yet

The Denver Broncos are on the outside looking in. However, it is not over yet.  However, it’s not over yet. Yes, they have two tough games on the horizon. However, they have one of the best defenses in the league that can catch fire at any time. Some changes on offense need to be made. I think Rick Dennison needs to be removed from OC. He was a linebacker for goodness sake. Let Kubiak head up the offense and get things back in order. That is the job of the head coach. If they can regroup they can make a move and be a player in the AFC.

The Denver Broncos are in turmoil right now. This is an unfamiliar place. Good teams find a way to overcome turmoil. Can the Broncos bounce back? The next two weeks will tell all.
