The Frisco RoughRiders, Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, lose game two to the San Antonio Missions Thursday night 6-4. The bulk of the action came in the sixth, with the Missions scoring four runs in the inning. The San Diego Padres affiliate is now 2-0 in this four-game set.

The game was a treat for fans, as two Major League Baseball players made appearances. Mike Napoli and Carlos Gomez were both in the lineup, on rehab assignments from the Texas Rangers. Gomez, batting leadoff, got the action going with a home run in the first inning. It was a step up for the outfielder, who went 0-3 in his first rehab start. Mike Napoli finished his first rehab start with the RoughRiders going 0-4 with two strikeouts.

In the fourth inning, Juremi Profar launched his own solo home run to tie the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the seventh, Carlos Gomez hit a groundout that scored one and Jose Cardona singled to score another. That would be the last offensive production for the RoughRiders. The club left five men on base, hitting just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Texas Rangers top prospect Yohander Mendez started on the mound for the RoughRiders. He took a loss in Thursday’s matchup and now sits 4-4 on the season. Mendez tossed 6.0 innings, giving up nine hits and six runs (all earned). He walked two batters and got two strikeouts. After allowing two more home runs in the outing, Mendez has given up 16 long balls this season.

The RoughRiders relievers pitched three innings of perfect baseball. Brady Feigl, Reed Garrett, and Jaye Chapman combined to close out the game. They each pitched one inning, allowing no hits and no runs.

The Frisco RoughRiders are slated to have Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels start in Friday’s game against the Missions. More details on his injury and time on the disabled list can be found here.

The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT, from Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. You can watch the game via MiLB.tv, or listen to the broadcast at RidersBaseball.com.
