In case you missed her already on Supergirl, Canadian-born actress Italia Ricci is ready for her primetime close up this coming fall.
Born Stephanie Italia Ricci, the 29-year-old native of the Toronto suburb of Richmond Hill, first burst onto the Hollywood scene in the ABC Family series, Chasing Life as April Carver and roles on other TV shows such as Secret Girlfriend, House, How I Met Your Mother, Greek, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The 5’6 dark-haired stunner also has had some bit roles in movies such as The Death of Indie Rock, Don Jon, The Remaining and most recently The Duff.
However, it would be Ricci’s five-episode arc as Siobhan Smythe/Silver Banshee on the hit CBS/CW superhero series, Supergirl that would elevate her visibility in primetime.
Set to appear in ABC’s new Homeland-meets-West Wing primetime political drama/thriller, The Designated Survivor, starring Kiefer Sutherland (24) as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Tom Kirkman, who—as designated survivor is sworn in as President of the United States shortly after a terrorist attack on the U.S. Capitol, Ricci’s character Emily Rhodes is Tom’s former Chief of Staff.
The highly-anticipated post 9/11 series also features Natascha McElhone (Californication), Adan Canto, LaMonica Garrett, Kal Penn (Slumdog Millionaire) and Maggie Q (Nikita, Mission Impossible III, Divergent, Stalker) and recurring cast members such as Malik Yoba, Virginia Madsend, Ashley Zukerman and Mykelti Williamson.
A graduate of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Ricci is a die-hard fan of her hometown Toronto Raptors. Since July of 2008, she has been in a relationship with fellow Canadian actor Robbie Amell (The Duff, The Flash), and as of 2014 are engaged.
Truly talented, beautiful and someone who can hold her own with anyone, don’t be surprised to be hearing more of Ricci now and shortly.
‘The Designated Survivor’ debuts on ABC on Wednesday, Sept. 21st at 9 p.m.
