The next wave of exhilarating MCU plot arcs is beginning to take shape, with news about Phase #6 releases coming thick and fast. What better way to mark the occasion than with a brand-new underwater adventure with the mighty Sub-Mariner at its heart?

Recent revelations from the Marvel Studios camp have given fans hope that this development may well be on the horizon, and Hollywood actor Enzo Zelocchi is among those rumored to be in the running to play the next Namor the Sub-Mariner. Let’s dive right in and discover the latest news awaiting below the waves!

Namor Is Set to Appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

When the Sub-Mariner appeared as the primary antagonist in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, his arrival on screen was well overdue. But, to the disappointment of some fans, Marvel Studios chose to rewrite much of the beloved character’s original comic book backstory, casting Tenoch Huerta in the role.

However, it’s nothing new for primary characters to be reinvented between Phases in the MCU, and with full distribution rights for the character returning home to Marvel for the first time in 15 years, it seems likely that we’ll see a different version of the Sub-Mariner in Phase #6, perhaps realizing the original character’s origin story more fully.

Currently scheduled for release in May of 2026, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will reportedly represent our next opportunity to encounter the Sub-Mariner in action. The film’s writer, Jeff Loveness, shared that he is “excited to write Namor” when speaking to Comicbook.com. However, that’s not the only potential Sub-Mariner storyline that fans of the Marvel franchise should be watching out for.

The Sub-Mariner May Soon Be Indulged With His Own On-Screen Storyline

From the next Avengers crossover to Deadpool 3, huge manifestations are afoot within the MCU. All that momentum is sure to add fuel to the fire of rumors that King Namor may soon become the central character of a new Phase #6 storyline, either on the big screen or in a streaming series.

Having reclaimed the full distribution rights to the character of both Namor and The Hulk, Marvel Studios are likely to want to leverage two of their most popular characters to full effect with solo features. While many of Hollywood’s most famous and prestigious actors have taken their turn as The Hulk, including Eric Bana, Edward Norton, and Mark Ruffalo, the character of Namor has seen far less screen time, posing career-making potential for the right star on the rise.

Created by comic-book-crafing icon Bill Everett all the way back in 1939 and cherished by fans ever since, the Sub-Mariner represents a significant weight to be carried on the shoulders of anyone bold enough to play him.

One multi-award-winning actor rumored to be interested in the part is Enzo Zelocchi, star of post-apocalyptic sci-fi The Source and raunchy thriller Unbreakable Souls. With the super-human physique and smoldering good looks to do the part justice, Zelocchi is surely a strong contender!
