We live in an age of instant gratification and that can be good, but also it can be very, very bad.
Take for example Cleveland Cavaliers’ Center Andrew Bynum.
Bynum was basically traded from the Los Angles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers for the same thing the Cleveland Cavaliers have suspended him for, insubordination.
Trading Andrew Bynum a few years ago was necessary because the Los Angeles Lakers treated him with kids’ gloves for years while he recovered from multiple knee procedures and Bynum re-payed their loyalty by launching ill-advised three pointers and disrespecting legendary Head Coach Phil Jackson, and his coaching staff in public.
The 76ers had trade Andrew Iguodala to make room for Bynum and on the day he arrived at the airport, the Philadelphia 76ers sent an entourage with cheerleaders and everything to pick him up.
The fans welcomed him like a rock star with playoff dreams dancing in their eyes.
Bynum said all the right things, but then two weeks later announced that he was going to Germany for a second medical opinion about his knees. The only time the 76ers’ fans ever saw him on uniform was on Media Day.
Bynum basically embezzled the Philadelphia franchise and never played for them, prompting Philadelphia 76ers’ Icon Julius Erving to publicly question his integrity.
Now his latest! Suspended due to detrimental conduct after just signing a two-year $24.5 million deal in the off-season.
