On night one the San Francisco 49ers selected defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th overall pick. An additional three picks were made on night two with Alfred Collins being taken at no.43, linebacker Nick Martin at no.75, and cornerback Upton Stout at no.100.
Saturday afternoon meant an additional seven picks for the 49ers. Starting out with defensive tackle C.J. West who played his first four years at Kent State before transferring to Indiana got taken with the 113th pick.
West tested well at the combine and was ranked the no.3 defensive tackle when it came to athleticism. In 2024, he recorded 40 tackles including eight for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and a pass defended. Overall he made 150 tackles with 27 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two passes defended.
Wide receiver Jordan Watkins got selected with the 138th pick by the 49ers. He played his first two years at Louisville before spending his next three years at the University of Mississippi. While he did not catch as many passes as he did in 2023, he did lead the SEC in touchdowns with nine in 2024, also he averaged 18.5 yards per reception, and caught 49 passes for 906 yards.
His best performance came against Arkansas in 2024 when he caught eight passes for 254 yards and five touchdowns.
Running back Jordan James played three years for Oregon and went at no.147. In 2023, he averaged an impressive 7.1 yards per carry as the backup to Bucky Irving and still managed to rush for 759 yards and 11 touchdowns.
He took over the starting job in 2024 and James wound up with 233 carries for 1,267 yards, 15 touchdowns, and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. Also, he caught 26 passes for 209 yards.
Safety Marques Sigle played two years at Kansas State and got taken at no.160. He will get a chance to play early and make an impact from day one as it was reported that Malik Mustapha tore his ACL in the final game of the 2024 season and likely will not start the 2025 season healthy.
So Sigle will get an opportunity. He was consistent in his two years with Kansas State. In 2024, he recorded 60 tackles with seven tackles for loss, three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, and three passes defend.
Overall he recorded 123 tackles including 10 tackles for loss, four interceptions with the aforementioned one returned for a touchdown, and 12 passes defended.
Quarterback Kurtis Rourke who started with Ohio and then transferred to Indiana in 2024 was taken at no.227. He finished ninth in the Heisman voting where he completed 69.4 percent of his passes, threw for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns and five interceptions.
His best season came in 2021 while at Ohio. He completed 69.1 percent of his passes, threw for 3,257 yards, 25 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Guard Conor Colby out of Iowa got selected at no.249 by the 49ers. He started from day one and is an excellent run block, he does struggle in pass protection even though he only allowed two sacks in 52 games. At the combine he did rank eighth in athleticism.
Wide receiver Junior Bergen was selected at no.252 out of Montana.
He excels as a punt and kick returner and tied a FCS record with eight punt returns for a touchdown. Also, he ranked third all-time in Big Sky history in yards per punt return. Receiving wise he caught 48 passes for 542 yards, three touchdowns, and averaged 11.3 yards per reception.
Here is a look at some reactions to the picks.
113. San Francisco 49ers – CJ West, DT, Indiana
•Grade: 🅲➕
•Pros:
•🛡️ Gap Discipline: Holds his assignment and clogs running lanes.
•💪 Solid Strength: Flashes pop at the point of attack.
•Cons:
•🏃♂️ Slow First Step: Not much explosiveness off the snap.

NOW WE ARE COOKING, FOLKS. CJ West is a hell of a pick. One of 3 remaining top 50 guys on my board. Could have made a real case for him at 43 pic.twitter.com/LwASPeCufE

Jordan Watkins will be interesting to watch in camp since he might have to help contribute early when the season begins with Aiyuk potentially missing Week 1 or Robinson probably out 3+ games

Watching film on WR Jordan Watkins.
I’m optimistically enthusiastic with the pick. Young man could contribute right away.
I seen him play this past season for the @OleMissFB and it could be a sleeper pick and a steal of this years draft.@49ers#FTTB

Jordan James is a classic 49ers pick imo aswell. Runs hard in a straight line with good contact balance. Gives it everything he has. He should make the team imo

This is really impressive. Marques Sigle @MarMar1k30 has to have a late bail to a deep half, then return for an open field fill at the goal line and stops the RB one-yard short. pic.twitter.com/xhMcr1NyE4

John Lynch on Marques Sigle: “This is a guy that takes the fight to the ball-carrier.”

The most slept on pick this draft is QB Kurtis Rourke. I know a lot of people were confused by this pick but it took me about 10-15 minutes to understand why they went and got this guy. I’m not saying we landed another Purdy but bigger and faster but I’m not saying we didn’t.

There’s a lot to like about Kurtis Rourke. Accurate, smart, tough. He was also downright embarrassed by top-flight defenses this past year.
It’s all v Kyle.

Aye!!! I love the Connor Colby pick.
I mocked him a few times on the PFN simulator in the 7th. GREAT ATHLETE. Played mostly right guard, but his playing time will have to be through competing at left guard. Nice depth piece! pic.twitter.com/oCTe4OTVxF

Kyle Shanahan on why he drafted Montana WR Junior Bergen:
“We took him as a returner. So, we’ll throw him in with the receivers and see how that goes. But we brought him here to be a returner and try to make the team that way.”
Bergen had only 10 punt returns last season, but… pic.twitter.com/KKfPLrnWgy
