With college basketball coming up this fall, and two-time national champion Connecticut looking become the first three-peat winner since John Wooden’s UCLA dynasty, now is the time to get your NCAA basketball betting fix with Omada.

Omada, available on Google Play and Apple, a sports app that allows users to experience the thrill of betting without using any real money, is an app one would be happy to use, to avoid gambling with money that thye dont, or to cheer on their alma mater and hope to see them put an end to a potential college hoops powerhouse.

Whether it is college football or hoops, Omada allows players to place bets on top squads such as Alabama, Houston, Arizona, Purdue, North Carolina and of course, Duke. With this golden age of sports betting, Omada is a unique take on a exploding multi-billion dollar industry.

And then, there is UConn.

Led by Dan Hurley, the back-to-back champions face a daunting task of winnning their third straight NCAA title—and the program’s seventh overall—due to the losses of guard Stephon Castle, who went fourth overall to the San Antonio Spurs and center Donovan Clingan, whom was selected tenth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Huskies also lost key reserves Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer in the second round. Despite these losses, and Hurley rejecting a high-profile contract offer from the Los Angeles Lakers for six years and $70 million, Hurley returned to Storrs with a new contract extension and some unfinished business, let alone a rare chance to chase the ghost of Wooden.

If there is any one team that could do it, it is UConn, and if there is one coach who could even come close to standing eye-eye with the most revered hoops mind in history, it is Hurley.

ESPN.Bet currently has the two-time defending champion Huskies at +850, followed by Kansas and Duke at +1000, Alabama at +1200 and Houston at +1800

Potential dark horses and sleepers to keep an eye on this coming season include Baylor at +2000, Arizona and Arkansas at +3000 and Tennessee at +5000. Notable title game bridesmaids Gonzaga are at +2000 and perennial blueblood Kentucky is at +3000.

While it is tempting too be bold, and act like the smartest guy in the room, one thing all college basketball fans have learned is; never bet against the Huskies. Every year, just when many want to count them out due to their conference record, coming up short in the Big East tournament occasionally, no rhyme or reason can seem to explain it, but the Huskies seem to have another switch come tournament time.

And in a 64-team tournament where one bad night—or in this case, a bad bet—could cost you money on other betting apps, Omada makes it fun, if you lose, you’re not losing any real money. So, pick and make your bets carefully and wisely, as the 2024-25 season is shaping up already to be one for the ages.

And, when in doubt, go all in on the boys from Storrs.
