The selection of the May Queen, which takes place during the first week of May, is one example of this structure. The modern beauty pageant began in 1839 as part of a reenactment joust, while the first American pageant was held in 1854.
Beauty pageants in the United States did not begin to shape society until the 1920s. The first Miss America was crowned in 1921 when 16-year-old Margaret Gorman received a $100 prize. As Miss America’s popularity grew in the 1950s, various beauty pageants were added to the yearly calendar. Miss Universe, along with the Miss USA competition, debuted in 1952. Miss International was founded in 1960. Miss Teen USA first appeared in 1983, while Miss Earth debuted in 2001.
When looking at beauty competitions in the United States, beauty pageants take place at the county, local, state, international, and national levels. Internationally, similar competitions are held at comparable levels. These events gather people who are passionate about similar things, bridging cultures, and societies through their mutual love of pageantry. It is a way to have some healthy competition, raise funds for worthy causes, and get to know one another. To be successful in the world of beauty pageants, one must remain committed to various processes and regulations that enable them to compete. While beauty is just one aspect of this process, the real competition lies in participants paying complete attention to refining their public speaking abilities, which can later be applied to a variety of occupations and industries. In order to stand out, all the contestants must be brave and vulnerable while competing on the pageantry stage.
In beauty pageants, contestants from various backgrounds come together and embrace the opportunity to work among people of diverse cultures. They choose to work hard in order to not only succeed but to become each other’s support system as well. With a similar intention of bringing diversity to a single platform and helping participants recognize cultural differences and cater out ways to embrace them, Summit International Pageants was founded by Kelly Trang Tran and Alex Hoang Bui.
The Summit International Pageants is a U.S.-based annual beauty pageant run by SAKA Production Inc. The event promotes peace by uniting women from different nations. A representative is selected from each country by Summit International Pageants to exchange ideas on how to improve the future of women worldwide. These representatives compete in a beauty pageant, intending to become an ambassador for Summit International Pageants.
Summit International Pageants held their first production from January 23 to January 26, 2022, in the exciting atmosphere of Las Vegas, Nevada. Even though this was the first production under the flag of Summit International Pageants, the president and executive director, who have over 25 years of combined experience in pageantry competition and production at both the national and international levels, made sure that the event comes to stand with the best of its kind. With such a diversified pageantry experience, one can expect a high level of professionalism, quality contestant activities, and a newsworthy production. Not to mention, even the key personnel of Summit International Pageants possess pageantry experience spanning over a decade!
Despite COVID, contestants from all over the world gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada for the first Summit International Pageant competition. Throughout the week, the delegates were able to enjoy a private helicopter tour of the city, a stretched limousine ride at night, photoshoots in an exclusive luxurious home, and a variety of food from various cultures, including sushi, steak, spaghetti, adobo, pancit, pizza, pasta, and many more. Moreover, every participant enjoyed and anticipated these activities, but the truly memorable factor of the event was the sisterhood and bond that the ladies shared with each other throughout the week.
Operating with three pure core values; ‘Connect, Empower, and Peace’, Summit International Pageants is working to empower women from different backgrounds. To appreciate diversity, this non-profit organization is expected to reveal the true definition of beauty in the world, i.e., True beauty is the state of being authentic and sincere in a way that extends love to not only oneself but others as well.
