Soccer has had its ups and down to the American fan. Most Americans will watch a soccer game only if it the World Cup, and even then it’s difficult to explain to a fan that a 0-0 draw is a big deal.
Until Landon Donovan came along and because the face of the USMNT and charmed everyone into loving soccer. But that face is gone now, and with Juergen Klinnsman gone as well, and leaving with him his losing streak, Americans were unsure of what to cheer for, since their “face of America” was no longer on the team.
That is until the Wonder Kid showed up, and I’m not talking about Freddy Adu, his name is Christian Pulisic.
The USMNT recently played Trinidad & Tobago in a World Cup qualifier, and America dominated the second half of the game, and it was primarily with the blessing of Christian Pulisic.
First half was expected of the USMNT, not having played with this line up in quite some months now, the team was just feeling each other out, as well as the T&T squad. Then in the 52nd minute, Deandre Yedlin crosses the ball over the goalie box, right for Pulisic to slide right in to toe tap the ball into the back of the net.
The USMNT take the lead, but they weren’t going to stop there. Pulisic was driving down the field with the ball, in the 62nd minute, when he passes to Yedlin, who passes to Jozy Altidore. Jozy surveys the field and lobs it right to Christian Pulisic, who beat the defender and was 1v1 with the goalie and squeezed the ball between the goalies outstretched arm and leg for his second goal of the game!
Christian Pulisic is bringing in a new age of leadership and confidence to the team, and it is oozing onto the fans who are excited for US Soccer again. I urge you to watch Sunday nights game were the USMNT takes on Mexico at 7:30 PM on FS1, you are going to want to see the new Wonder Kid, Face of the USMNT, Kid Legend, or whatever you want to call him!
