Berea, OHIO – It’s official and breaking today: The Cleveland Browns are hiring Todd Monken as their new head coach.
As of Wednesday, January 28, 2026, they have reached an agreement with Monken to succeed Kevin Stefanski.
This is a reunion for the veteran coach, who previously served as the Browns’ offensive coordinator back in 2019, under Freddie Kitchens.
Monken, 59, spent the last three seasons as the Baltimore Ravens’ Offensive Coordinator, where he oversaw a highly
efficient offense.
He also famously won back-to-back National Championships as the offensive coordinator at Georgia (2021-2022) before jumping back to the NFL.
Monken beat out fellow finalists Jim Schwàrtz (the Brown current Defensive
Coordinator, and Nate Scheelaase (Rams pass I ng game Coordinator).
One of the biggest questions with the owner will be whether Jimmy Haslam be persistent about keeping Schwartz on staff to lead the elite Defense he built.
Monken is an elite play-caller known for
His pro-style versatility and success with
quarterback development. His first order of business is deciding how to handle Shedeur Sanders and the Deshaun Watson recovery.
In the draft, Monek will be helping GM Andrew Berry use the No.6 overall pick to fix the struggling offensive line.
