Dermatology Website

As someone who is keen on looking my best, I’m always researching online for new types of cosmetic treatment. You could call it something of a hobby! While searching, I came across a website that offered something called sclerotherapy and I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of it before!

So, if you’re like me and you’ve never heard of it or at least, you’ve heard of it, but don’t know what it’s for, this blog is meant for you. Here I’m going to give you the benefit of what I found out regarding what the treatment is and who it’s for.

Sclerotherapy Explained

Despite perhaps not being that well-known, sclerotherapy is something that’s widely-used as a way to treat spider veins and varicose veins. It’s also something that website dermatologists use to deal with the deficiencies that cause these vein problems to surface again in the future.

It would be accurate to say that it represents both a medical and a cosmetic treatment that’s able to restore a smooth and even skin tone for your legs.

So, What Does the Treatment Involve?

When having sclerotherapy, something known as Asclera is injected directly into the vein with the problem. It actually does its work by irritating the vein wall, causing localised inflammation. This, in turn, causes scar tissue to be produced, thereby restricting the flow of blood to the area.

The effect of this is blood being redirected away from the unhealthy vein to a healthier one, with the old vein slowly disintegrating and becoming absorbed. The whole process takes just a few weeks to occur.

A Condition With Varying Degrees of Severity

Spider veins are typically very near the skin’s surface and the Asclera is injected using a very small needle. The dermatologist website treatment can sometimes leave small red marks on the skin, but you shouldn’t worry too much, as this mark will usually be gone in an hour or two.

When the problem is more serious and the veins become much more swollen and blue, it gets that much harder to treat. It then requires the practitioner or doctor to properly examine the area, in order to prevent the injection causing obstruction issues for veins lying more deeply.

A Brief Procedure With No Downtime

Generally speaking, sclerotherapy treatments last anywhere from 15 minutes to three quarters of an hour. The exact duration will depend largely on the size of the affected area. However, no matter how serious it is, there’s no downtime to contend with afterwards.

In terms of risk, it’s pretty negligible, particularly when it’s done by a highly trained expert – the kind you’d find when visiting a top dermatologist company. There’s pretty much no risk of allergic reaction and a very minimal risk of infection or blood clots.

Aftercare is pretty simple too, as all that’s required is to wear a pair of support hose or compression stockings for 48 straight hours. After that, they should then be worn during the day for the next two to three weeks while avoiding any kind of strenuous exercise.
