It is clear as day that the New York Yankees are aiming towards working on their future by trading away many of their older players and picking up the future. In recent weeks, they have traded Andrew Miller, Ivan Nova, Carlos Beltran, and Aroldis Chapman to contenders for prospects.

Due to this sudden youth movement, the Yankees may be making more changes as they may be releasing Alex Rodriguez at some point of the second half. Peter Botte of the New York Daily News was one of the first people to report on this possibility. Here is what he heard: “While the more likely scenario still seems to be parting ways with A-Rod over the Winter, a source familiar with the situation told the Daily News on Monday that there’s a chance releasing the slumping DH “could happen” before the end of this season as part of the team’s ongoing overhaul.”

This is not the first time we have heard the possibility of the Yankees wanting to part ways with Alex Rodriguez. However, now that Carlos Beltran had been traded, it has changed the dynamics of the team. If you go simply based off logical, Alex would be the next veteran player to go. The news came down before tonight’s Game 3 of the Subway Series; the Yankees announced they were promoting Gary Sanchez from Triple-A.

While its nice to finally see him up in the majors, the timing seems off. There is no need to make a change behind the plate, and there is no need for a DH while in a National League park. He will just be sitting on the bench, and that changed as he started for the New York Yankees tonight. One possible approach the Yankees can do is release Alex Rodriguez to free up DH at-bats for Sanchez.

Many baseball experts have been saying that there has been a ton of talk about the end of A-rod in New York, and they expect something to happen at some point. He is four homers away from 700, and it is possible that the Yankees may want to cash in on the milestone first. If not, A-Rod’s days in New York may be done.
