Week six of the NFL season will see a battle between two East Coast teams. One from Baltimore Maryland, and one from New Jersey, even if their name suggests otherwise. The Baltimore Ravens fly into the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants at Metlife Stadium. The Ravens are coming off of their second straight loss on the season, as they lost at home to the Washington Redskins. Meanwhile the Giants are on a downward spiral, loosing their third straight a week ago in Green Bay.
The Ravens return to the road, and it actually may be a welcome site for them. Their last two games have been at home, and it has not resulted in anything positive for Ravens fans or the team. The Ravens have been playing close games all season, and it has finally caught up to them. Joe Flacco and the offense have done nothing to impress on the whole, but the defense has looked pretty solid. One bright spot the last couple of games has been running back Terrence West. But this week he will be a tough test for West, as the Giants new look defense does stuff the run.
The Giants have been a mess the last few weeks. Their offense has looked awful to put things nicely. Their last two have come on the road, so maybe a return home is the remedy they need. But both units are going to have to step up. The defense has given up their fair share of points the last few weeks, but it came against the Packers and the Vikings, who are both solid teams. The Ravens offense is not nearly as scary, and the defense should return to form this week. The question is whether or not Eli and the offense can get the ball rolling.
Both teams are better on the defensive side of the ball. That leads me to think the under is the bet to take here. While I think the Giants improve back at home, and their defense steps up, I cannot put enough faith in that offense the way they are playing to lay points. So while I do not like the Ravens as a while, their defense will keep them in the game, and getting three points makes them worth the pick.
