This year’s crop of NBA rookies has not lived up to expectations. The only first-year player that has truly had a rookie of the year type season is Milwaukee Bucks small forward Jabari Parker.
Unfortunately, his first-year in the NBA is about to come to an abrupt end.
According to ESPN sources, Parker will miss the season with a torn ACL. This comes as a big blow to not only the Bucks, but the NBA as Parker was having a terrific rookie year averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Parker injured the knee during the team’s win against the Phoenix Suns. The injury as first reported as a sprain, but further tests have shown the injury is much more serious. It is unclear who will replace Parker in the Milwaukee lineup, but it can be expected Giannis Antetokounmpo will take on a bigger role in the offense.
The team is already without forward Ersan Ilyasova, which leaves a void at the team’s power and small forward.
