CLEVELAND – In another episode of “As The Cleveland Browns Turn” embattled quarterback Johnny Manziel gets called out by future Hall-of-Fame tackle Joe Thomas, and another “leak” of the new white road uniform surfaced on Twitter.
Early Monday, Thomas stated in a interview with ESPN Cleveland that Manziel lost a lot of trust in the locker room, and needs to dedicate his life to football, “ I think he’s going to have to prove to the team that football is important and being the man, being the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, is important, it is his goal, his single goal in his life,”
If there is any one player that is deeply respected in the Cleveland locker room is the eight-year veteran and team captain out of Wisconsin in Thomas.
If Thomas’ comments are glimpse into what the locker room will be like in 2015-16, Manziel needs to come into OTA’s as a newly re-dedicated signal-caller focused on taking the Browns to the next level instead of putting himself in harm’s way. On;y then will talk of drafting a signal caller such as Marcus Mariota, Sean Mannion, Garrett Grayson and Brett Hundley or trading for the likes of Sam Bradford will die down.
But that is on Manziel, and while I made the case for the Browns to not give up on the former Heisman Trophy winner here, based on Thomas’ comments, he is going to have to prove himself on and off the field if both the Browns and team as a whole will succeed.
Late Monday, another “leak” another image of a alleged uniform. In what appears to be the home—or road—white tops, that first surfaced on Twitter, you can for the first time see the woodmark “CLEVELAND” in bold letters across the front, along with the authentic NFL shield and Nike collar tag. A bit higher up, one can also see the words “DAWG POUND” on the collar in the same font as the recently unveiled new logo.
If you look closely in the upper-right hand corner of the image, you can see what appears to be part of a orange number outlined in brown on the shoulder area.
Again, none of these images are confirmed to be the real new uniforms, but after the leak of the alleged orange alternates and now the white road uniforms, if you’re a Browns fan, you cannot help but at least get a little more anxious about the “Orange Carpet” new uniform reveal April 14th.
Only in Cleveland!
Dawgfather out!
