The Critics Choice Award nominations were announced Monday. As expected, it was Birdman that soared high, as the film was able to snag a total of 13 bids.

The comedy starring Michael Keaton has been getting a lot of positive press as of late, due in most part to its leading seven nominations at the Golden Globes.

In addition to categories such as best actor (Michael Keaton), best supporting actor (Edward Norton) and best supporting actress (Emma Stone), Birdman also walked away with nominations for best acting ensemble.

Also scoring an impressive 11 bids was The Grand Budapest Hotel, whose nominations included best picture, best director (Wes Anderson), best young actor/actress (Troy Revolori) and best acting ensemble.

Other films receiving multiple nominations included Interstellar with seven nominations, Guardians Of The Galaxy with five nominations , and Unbroken with four nominations.

It is also worth noting that with the nominations for Angelina Jolie (Unbroken) and Ava DuVernay (Selma), two of the six nominees for best director are female. The Critics Choice are a very good precursor to the the Oscars, as the winner of the best picture award has gone on to win the Academy Award in 12 of the last 15 years.

The Critics Choice Award will be held January 15th at the Hollywood Palladium.
