Just when Sony thought they experienced the last of the studio hack debacle more new stories are made public, with the newest bit of information involving the Ghostbusters franchise.
However, this is not the planned all-female spinoff we have been hearing about, but rather something new and exciting. According to emails viewed by The Daily Beast, Channing Tatum has pitched Sony executives a new Ghostbusters spinoff.
Sony’s Co-President of production Hannah Minghella, laid out groundwork for the film over an email to Sony Co-Chairman Amy Pascal stating,
“So… in a curious turn of events – the Russos and Channing want to develop Ghostbusters as a vehicle for Channing and Chris Pratt to do together,” wrote Minghella.
“The Russos, Channing and Reid have been brainstorming ideas and want to create a whole new mythology that would support multiple movies.”
The email goes on to state that Paul Feig is amid negotiations to direct the film, with the hope that his planned female Ghostbusters spin-off will be intertwined with the Tatum-led project. While nothing is set in stone, one this is certain, fans of Ghostbusters will have a lot to look forward to.
