Right on the heels of Scarlett Johansson’s $10 million offer from Dreamworks to star in Ghost in the Shell, a new casting rumor has emerged from the set of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Jena Malone, who appeared in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and is also set to appear in the next two Mocking Jay installments of the series, has been cast in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice – this much has been confirmed.
What is still a point of speculation would be what specific role she’s been cast in. During a report shown on WILX-10, a Detroit television station, and undisclosed source floated a rumor that Malone was likely playing Carrie Kelly, the alter ego of the female incarnation of the character Robin.
This could be a strong possibility since Director Zack Snyder has stated that this portrayal of Batman would share strong similarities to the one in Frank Miller’s comic book mini-series The Dark Knight Returns. However, Warner Bros has not and likely will not have any comment on the matter.
Casting rumors are a hot commodity, and are certain to get the fan-boy and fan-girl communities buzzing. Should the source of the rumor have their identity determined, Warner Bros. may be doling out justice of their own. That is, of course, if the rumor proves to be factual.
